I wrote a couple weeks about about TubeCaption. The site has some features that make it easy to import text, and gives an “educated guess” as to where they go.
As it turns out, this lends itself well to music videos, which have lyrics easily available online.
Insert the url, paste the lyrics, make some adjustments, and boom, your done.
They have also added an .srt import feature, which means that you can easily add the timed text from videos that you have already created in Overstream.
Well, I think in part due to the fact that they have revenue sharing, the number of videos on the site is increasing rapidly.
They also have a page for requesting Captions . Any user can pick up this request, and caption it, and the requester will be notified. The captioner benefits by geting some Google adsense revenue, and the requester gets the captioned video, and the transcript.
With an army of captioners, “the internet is going to be captioned” much faster!
Some recent examples: (It looks like a lot of them were done by user Jessica_QOF)
Panic! at the Disco – “I Write Sins, Not Tragedies” (PG Language)
James Blunt – You’re Beautiful official video & lyrics (I did this one in the interest of full disclosure)
